Are you ready for the easiest, healthiest, most fulfilling popcorn you’ve ever had?

As much as I like to cook, I’ve never cooked popcorn on the stove. And I still haven’t. That’s not what this is about. I get a popcorn craving pretty frequently, and I always reach for a normal bag of microwave popcorn from the store.

No more, though. After some web-searching, I read a number of blogs that discussed an easy method for microwave popcorn without all the added soy and salt. And it’s also considerably cheaper.

Here’s what you do: take a small, plain brown paper bag and put  some kernels in it. If you want a small snack, all you need is a few tablespoons. For this experiment I used a 1/4 cup of kernels and my boyfriend and I enjoyed two medium sized bowls full of popcorn.

Next, fold the top over and microwave it for 3 minutes, or until it stops popping. That’s it. Seriously.

Top with your favorite toppings, and snack away!

Now, I did end up with quite a few unpopped kernels, and just put them into a new bag and did it a second time around. Almost all of them popped the second time, but it tasted slightly burnt. So, that would be up to you. It wasn’t so burnt that a scoop of melted Earth Balance couldn’t cover it up though.

What are some of your favorite popcorn toppings/seasonings? I prefer Earth Balance and nutritional yeast. 🙂
